Enhancing the People Pillar: Right People, Right Seats
In the EOS framework, the People Pillar is one of six key components, ensuring the right people are in the right seats. Tools like the People Analyzer, GWC (Get it, Want it, Capacity to do it), and Elevate and Delegate are used to recruit and manage your team.
However, as your company grows and the challenges become more complex, you might find that the existing tools in EOS need a more powerful system to keep up. This is where Scaling Up steps in with a more elaborate and time-tested approach: Topgrading.
Topgrading Your Staff
Topgrading is a dedicated recruitment framework recommended by Scaling Up for rapidly growing businesses. Unlike traditional hiring methods, Topgrading is widely used by large corporations and is specifically designed to help you identify and hire A-players.
What sets Topgrading apart is its emphasis on transparency and honesty throughout the hiring process. A key element of the Topgrading methodology is informing candidates right from the start that they will need to arrange reference checks from their former managers and colleagues.
The idea behind this is to ensure that applicants understand their references will be thoroughly checked from the outset, making them less likely to lie.
Going Beyond EOS Recommendations
On top of the Topgrading approach, we also use psychometric tests to evaluate our candidates. While EOS recommends tools like Kolbe, we use Bryq which is a dedicated tool that combines Personality, EQ, IQ, and analytical skills. Bryq also provides a global benchmark of applicant skills.
As your company scales, ensuring the right people are in the right seats becomes even more critical. Upgrading to the Topgrading framework, combined with tools like Bryq, ensures that your hiring process remains rigorous and aligned with your company’s growth trajectory.
