Building traction first: Execution before strategy

When it comes to business-building, people usually start by making big plans and then setting an execution plan. However, these strategies often just become papers collecting dust without any real execution happening.

Doing lots of strategy work before any execution is like making a typical New Year's resolution for your business, there's no real foundation or support behind the strategy.

This is why the EOS approach prioritizes traction first, creating accountability rituals and habits within your company, and then creating the plan, ensuring there is now a solid foundation for effective vision work.

Using a fitness-related analogy, building traction first is like focusing on core strength before aiming for specific fitness goals such as running a marathon or lifting a certain weight.

A strong core provides the stability and endurance needed for various exercises, reduces the risk of injury, and improves overall performance.

So by building a strong foundation (core), you prepare your body to tackle various challenges, allowing your specific goals (vision) to be more realistic.

Focusing on traction is like ensuring you can run a solid 5k before setting your sights on the marathon.

We’re about to start

As previously mentioned, I've implemented this roadmap at my company, Makman Technology Consulting, and we completed the journey in 365 days.

In the upcoming weeks, I'll be sharing how we did it. So, make sure to tune in every Friday for lots of cool insights gained from hands-on experience with implementing the EOS method.

Next week, we’ll begin breaking down the roadmap, starting with the accountability chart.

Stay tuned.
