EOS Level 10 Meeting: Stop Wasting Time In Your Meetings
Welcome back to the Business Builder newsletter. We're continuing our EOS series, and in today's issue, I'll share my experience with implementing the Level 10 Weekly Meeting routine in my business.
Estimated read time: 3 minutes.
Weekly Level 10 Meeting
The L10 meetings are deliberately designed to be as straightforward as possible for the leadership team.
They are held on the same day each week, start and finish on time, run for just 90 minutes, and follow the same agenda:
Segue – Start the agenda with a check-in on a positive note. Each member shares both personal and professional good news to set a positive atmosphere.
Scorecard review – Check that weekly accountabilities are being achieved.
Objectives/Rock Review – Check that quarterly priorities are on track.
People – Share brief updates or important news about customers and employees.
To-Do List Review – Check off completed items from the last meeting’s to-do list and discuss any incomplete items.
IDS (Identify, Discuss, and Solve) Session – The heart of the Level 10 meetings, this section involves identifying key issues, discussing them in detail, and collectively solving them.
Conclude – Reminder of new to-dos. Cascading any information that affects the rest of the business.
At the end of every meeting, each member rates the meeting on a scale of 1 to 10, which is where the name comes from.
There is another weekly meeting in the EOS method called Functional Meetings.
These meetings are tailored to each function, with information from the senior leadership's weekly L10 meetings cascading down to the specific function, keeping everyone updated on what's happening weekly at their level.
Co-Location Meeting
To enhance our L10s, we’ve introduced a preparatory session known as the co-location meeting.
On the Thursday before the L10 meeting, we work quietly in one space, updating the scorecard, rocks, and issue list.
This preparation has significantly improved the flow of our L10 meetings.
Daily Pulse Meetings
To complete the L10 Meetings, we hold Daily Pulse Meetings (DPMs) for quick team sync-ups on immediate issues, ensuring that our teams remain agile and responsive.
When the team is small (fewer than 10 people), these pulse meetings can be brief online sessions between just the CEO and team members.
This is our custom approach to the EOS method and we skip this meeting on the day we hold the L10 meeting.
I’ll keep sharing the EOS method, as we continue this series next week.
